A Wildlife Artist from East Cork
Ewe Sir is an Irish art brand founded by Molly Ellis. Molly’s aesthetic is influenced by the natural beauty of our feathered and furry friends complemented by her love of textures and pattern. She works using hand selected wool from around the world and transforms these into prints, cards and paperweights.
Her signature piece is the Keeper of Wishes paperweight made with an image of the peacock butterfly delicately encased in a large glass dome and presented in a nest of preserved moss and rose petals foraged from her walks in Cork’s forests. She hand makes a unique collection made for the nature lover, with each piece designed, made and inspired in Ireland. She works from her home in East Cork with the help of her four dogs , husband and little boy.
“ I was the kid who rescued fallen birds and managed to sneak a fox cub into the shed before my parents found out. I didn’t start out as a maker, and never thought I would end up being an animal lover as a career. I did lots of things first and just couldn’t settle. It was when I was teaching art that I found my love of textures and really of wool felting. I wanted to create something that people wanted to touch and bring to their hearts and homes. It’s not just about the pieces but the connections we feel to them. Each piece has a story to share. ”
